Question
Why is it important to maintain high efficiency, of operation and low
values of voltage regulation for power transformers?
Voltage
regulation
It is
referred to ‘DOWN’ of terminal voltage on load
And is
expressed as
Voltage regulation
=
No Load – Full Load Voltage / No Load x 100%
Typical value is ± 5%, lower the regulation better it is for power transformers.
This Voltage regulation is to be kept minimum
as it is considerable to have too much variation in voltage for the running
machinery
Lesser goes
the voltage current increases
Leading to
heating of circuit,
Efficiency =
out put / input x 100%
Higher
efficiency means lesser losses. We have to minimise losses and thereby
increases the useful power.
