Draw the circuit of Half-wave rectifier and its output waveform. A diode whose -internal resistance is 20 Ω is to supply power to 1000 Ω load from 110 V (RMS) source. Calculate (a peak load current, (b) DC load current, (c) AC load current.

Peak load current Imax = Vmax / (r+R) = 110√2/(20+1000) = 152.5 mA

 

DC curent Idc = Imax /π = 152.5 / π mA = 48.5 mA

 

AC curent = Imax / 2 = 152.5 / 2 = 76025mA
